Typically four courts marked within the tennis court's playing area, or two if you want comfortable run-off between them. Four maximises capacity for social play and coaching; two plays noticeably better for competitive games. We mark out both options on site so you can see the difference before deciding.
If you are still testing demand, overlay. It costs a fraction, needs no civil work and can be running within days, and you lose nothing but marking cost if the interest does not hold. Once courts are consistently booked, build dedicated — the play quality and the look are both a clear step up.
Acrylic hard court is what most serious players prefer — consistent bounce, predictable footing and a proper finished court. Tiles are more forgiving and drain better but play very slightly slower. Indoors, cushioned PVC is the comfortable choice, particularly where the hall doubles for badminton.
An overlay on a sound existing court can be marked and playable within a day or two. Tile courts over a level base typically take three to seven days. A dedicated acrylic court runs closer to two weeks including base preparation and coat curing, and longer if the base needs to be built from scratch.
Yes — the court footprints are similar enough that most badminton halls take pickleball markings comfortably, with portable nets swapped in. We add markings in a contrasting colour so both sports stay readable, and confirm the clear height and run-off at survey.
Very little. Sweep grit off regularly, wash the surface down seasonally and keep drainage clear. Acrylic courts need a colour refresh on a periodic cycle depending on sun exposure and use. Tile courts mainly need the joints kept clear of debris. Nets and posts should be checked for tension periodically.
